Grandparents enjoy a fun-filled morning at Dean Park Day Nursery!

In recognition and celebration of International Grandparents Day, Dean Park Day Nursery opened its doors to the children’s grandparents for a stay and play session, giving them the opportunity to see and experience the nursery setting for themselves.

Following a brief introductory session with the staff, grandparents were invited into the nursery to meet their excited little ones who were eager to take them on a tour of their favourite play areas and involve them in ‘messy play’ activities. What a beautiful sight it was to see the sensory room, book corner and role play areas filled with doting grandparents playing and exploring with their grandchildren.

Our gardens and outdoor learning facilities were a big hit with everyone. The children showed off the nursery guinea pigs and there was lots of fun to be had; building, painting, digging and even making mud pies. The playtime hour flew by and all too quickly it was time to say goodbye.

One happy grandparent said: ‘What a wonderful morning for all involved, from reading stories to balancing bricks, from sensory play to outside play. From sticking and drawing to saying hello to the nursery pets, I’ve enjoyed a brilliant time with my granddaughter at her nursery. We often hear so much about the fun and adventures she gets up to during her time at nursery, but now I have experienced it too. Thank you so much to all the staff at Dean Park Day Nursery that welcomed us so warmly.’

Nursery Manager, Kelly Yates commented: ‘We were so pleased to share an hour of playtime with the grandparents of our children and see the interaction between the generations. The excitement of the children this morning has been something very special to witness – it was lovely to see the bond between grandchild and grandparents who often play such a vital role in family life. It’s been a fun morning and we look forward to doing again sometime soon!”

NEW sporting facilities coming to Dean Park Day Nursery this Autumn!

We are pleased to announce that Park School has broken ground on its first new all-weather training grid, which is to be located here at Dean Park Day Nursery.

On Wednesday 5th September work began, with the first of three pitches laid down on the field. The expected completion date for the work is between 5-6 weeks and we are hoping the grid will be ready for use after the October half term holidays.

The grid will provide a state-of-the-art surface for netball, hockey, football training and competitive fixtures. The new sporting facilities will be available to Park School and Park School Nursery children, as well as our little ones at Dean Park Day Nursery. We will have full use of the pitches during our morning sessions and they’ll be especially beneficial during the wetter months when the field is often too waterlogged to enjoy, meaning we can continue to utilise the grounds for outdoor learning and sporting activities.

Dean Park Day Nursery Manager, Kelly Yates commented: “We are extremely excited about the new training grid that will be available to us later this year – it will be a welcome addition to our facilities and we are pleased to see Dean Park Day Nursery’s vast grounds being actively used for sporting purposes. Feel free to come along and see the work in progress while supporting the children and if you have any questions about how we will be using these new facilities, please just ask!”.

Dean Park Day Nursery Launches LearningBook

When asking your child how their day at nursery was, do you get the usual shrug of the shoulders or one-word reply? We appreciate how important it is for parents to know exactly what their child has been up to and how they are progressing. We are excited to announce that Dean Park Day Nursery has invested in a fantastic new digital reporting system that will ensure parents are always in-the-know.

LearningBook is a digital learning journal that the nursery will be using moving forward to observe, track and view information on each child’s progress easily and securely. The new technology has been designed to improve home-nursery communication, giving parents a real insight into their child’s learning. The system allows parents to work in partnership with the nursery, engaged with their child’s learning and development, while actively participating in the process.

We will be uploading photographs, videos, voice clips, observations and assessments to each child’s learning journey on a regular basis and we invite parents to do the same. If you take a photograph or video of your child at home, learning a new skill or enjoying a new experience, you can simply upload it to their online learning record, which will create a full account of their early years education.

What’s more, at the end of a child’s nursery experience, parents have the option to purchase a hard back or digital copy as a keepsake.

If you’re a parent of a child at Dean Park Day Nursery, make sure you have your child’s log-in details from their early years keyworker. They will be happy to answer any questions you may have regarding your child’s learning journey.

Family BBQ and Leavers Party

In case you haven’t already heard, we will be holding our summer family BBQ and leavers party next Friday, 14th July. If you have a child that currently attends the nursery, we would like to invite you (parents, grandparents, siblings and friends) to join us from 4pm-6pm.

We will be so sad to see our pre-school children leave us, but we’re excited for what the future has in store for them. We’ve watched them grow in confidence and develop wonderful little personalities during their time at Dean Park Day Nursery and now it’s time to let them spread their wings. So, let’s send them off to school in style!

As well as the chance to get together for an evening of fun and food, the children will be taking part in Sports Day races out on the field. We’re especially looking forward to the parents’ egg and spoon race!

Please remember to let us know you’re coming so we can prepare enough BBQ burgers and let’s all keep our fingers crossed for sunshine… see you there!

Dean Park Day Nursery unveils new baby room

After a very busy few weeks of building and decorating, we’re pleased to have launched a fabulous new baby room within our nursery.

As well as a wide selection of books and toys, the room offers its own sleeping area, kitchen and sensory wall. It also has direct access to the nursery’s outdoor learning facilities, where babies can be free to explore the garden and safely enjoy the coming summer months.

Nursery Manager, Kelly Yates commented: “We’re thrilled to have expanded Dean Park Day Nursery with the addition of our new baby room. The development is in direct response to the growing demand for us to accept and look after more children aged between 3-18 months. Our babies have thoroughly enjoyed playing in their new room this week and it has been well received by parents – a success on both counts.

“We understand that it can be an anxious time for parents who are considering returning to work and leaving their little ones in the trusted care of others. We want to make this transition period as easy as possible for both the children and their families. Our vision is to create an environment where your child is loved, cared for, nurtured and respected for their wonderfulness.”

We now have the capacity to look after nine babies per day and are currently taking bookings for July 2018 onwards. If you would like to arrange a visit to look around the nursery and speak to our staff, please get in touch.

Children raise funds for Comic Relief

Dean Park Day Nursery staff and children got into the spirit of Red Nose Day on Friday by wearing their best fancy dress and hosting a cake sale, raising £92 – an impressive amount for such little people!

Pirates, animals, superheroes and fairies were among some of the costumed characters that spent the day playing fun games and activities and making cakes to sell to their families. Staff also joined in, wearing face paints and sporting the signature red nose. With thanks to the kind and generous donations of those supporting the children, proceeds raised will be equally shared between Comic Relief and local charity, Julia’s House.

Nursery Manager, Kelly Yates commented: “We’re delighted to have raised nearly £100 through the nursery’s Red Nose Day fundraising activities. As well as having a fun-filled day in support of Comic Relief and our local charity of choice, Julia’s House, the children learnt the importance of helping those who are less fortunate than themselves. It was a pleasure to organise and be a part of.”
